What do gay horses eat?

Haaaaaaay. All jokes aside, this past year I’ve found a newfound love in Horses. Think big dogs, but thousands of pounds heavier and way smarter. (Sorry Korra). I consider myself an empath, and they truly are one of the most empathetic and therapeutic animals I’ve ever met. They sense everything, from their rider’s ability, to fear, even confidence. I’ve met this woman in the Hampton’s who certified her horses as actual ‘Therapy horses’ because they have the ability to communicate with humans that can’t even communicate with other humans… It’s basically sensory overload, therefore being one of the most healing hobbies I’ve ever had.

The first time I rode a horse was cliffside along the crystal clear oceans of ST. MARTIN, and had no clue what I was doing. It was magical to say the least. TAKE ME BACK. I say riding horses is therapeutic because you don’t think of anything else other than navigating a thousand pound animal that’s trusting you to guide them. You left your stove on? Thought GONE. Your rent is due? GONE. Your heart’s broken? GONE. Riding for even an hour can calm anyone’s anxiety. Not to mention how great of a workout it is. Also - I’m not saying to leave your stove on and go riding, you should probably turn that off, but you get the point lol.

I’ve had the luxury of being able to learn so much over the year, riding in beautiful places such as the Hampton’s, New Hampshire, and now Ojai. Watching first hand how hard and EXPENSIVE it is training a young horse with my friend Shosh who just bought her first horse, to how crazy some horse trainers are because they all train a different way. I’m no expert, but isn’t it just so pretty to think that one day I’ll be trotting around on my own.

While in Ojai I’ve been volunteering at my good friend’s family friend’s Ranch, where she has some of the rarest horses called Camarillo White Horses. Two in which are Stallions which is super cool to see. I’ve basically been learning how to trot while sitting, to clean the pens, saddle them on my own, bathe them, and how/when to feed them. A lot of groundwork, but with views like this makes it all that much more worth it. Plus I get to ride WHENEVER I want: Which if you know how expensive this hobby can be, it’s a great exchange. Time to buy some real horse riding gear aye?
